I must admit my least favorite parental chore is potty training. It's very messy and just gross! However, with Olivia coming in July, I really wanted to get Jonah potty trained so we would only have 2 diaper-ees at a time. So we started Tuesday (I meant to start Monday, but forgot). Instead of making a big deal about it like I did with Cole (getting a new potty, giving him lots to drink, giving out candy, etc.) I just put some underwear on him and said, "We aren't wearing diapers except for nap time and bed time. When you have to pee-pee or poopey, we're using the potty." Then we have lots of praise when he uses the potty! We have Spring Break this week and made no plans so we could be home all week hoping it would stick. Yesterday we had about 6 accidents and this morning we've had 1- but it's only 10:15. I'm hoping with Cole using the potty it will encourage Jonah. But those of you who know my Jonah knows he isn't easily influenced by others. These are the times I hate my camera is broken because he is so cute walking around with his Lightening McQueen big boy pants with his little belly poking over the waistband a little (Jonah has my appetite) and his new Lightening McQueen croc-like shoes! Just envision it. Darling! Wish us success. I don't want to be doing this with a nursing new born.

way to go ... i never thought about the "jonah approach" to toilet training. do you this is working better (easier) or do you think this is the best way for jonah in comparission to judah. we are trying to get grace interested in using the potty (she's 2) but there is 0 interest on her part. we are trying not to push it for fear she will really not want to be toilet trained. she's a laid back kid and goes with the flow most of the time ... based on your experience do you have any suggestions? :) i am eager to read about your adventures in potty land! oh, and SOOOOOOO excited you are having a girl ... they are way fun!
We are also about to embark on this same FUN journey! I, also, only want 2 (at most) in diapers at a time, so we are about to start the process with Noah! I was going to try the Pottywise way first. Hopefully, he'll catch on quickly (he usually does). We'll definitely be thinking of you!
way to go - that is going to be a battle of the wills if he don't like to potty in a toilet - he do gots a mind of his own - i wonder where he get that?
You go girl! And with summer coming....they can run around naked and sit on the potty without dealing with the panties (oh, sorry, boys wear undies). See....you'll know about this new, girl world soon! :) I love the photo of Jonah on Easter. I can't believe how much he has grown.
We are in the same boat. Thomas is VERY interested but I think he is a little young still. He comes up to me, says potty, runs to the bathroom and before I can get my fat pregnant self to the bathroom, he is already sitting on the toilet with his diaper still on...fun times! He is only 19 months. Fingers crossed for these July babies!
Girl, I don't know how you do it. Good luck!!
Hang in there hot Mama. I know it is tough, but Mac is done and I totally stressed about it beforehand. It is a battle of the wills..you can do it!!
I hope it goes well, I don't envy that right now though. I pray it goes fast and I pray you can get a camera soon!
