13 Ways My 4-year Old May Be Smarter Than Me

1- When I’m trying to put a movie in the DVD player before my morning caffeine fix he says, “It’s ok, Mommy, I’ll get it for you.”

2- When I’m driving down the road and he tells me to turn right to go to the store and I have to think about it because I still am not sure of my right and left sometimes (Don’t laugh! That is a sign of brilliance!)- and he is correct.

3- When I’m fussing a lot he looks at me, cocks his head to the side and says, “I don’t think Jesus likes your attitude, Mommy.”

4- When he reminds me that I promised to get him ice cream 2 days ago and I can’t even remember what I did that same morning.

5- When I’m trying to turn on the oscillating fan and he reminds me it has to be plugged in first.

6- When I give him a cup of milk and the threads on the lid of the cup aren’t lined up so the top leaks, he unscrews it and puts it on correctly.

7- When we discuss the story of Jesus dying on the cross and coming back to life, he mentions people Jesus died for whom I haven't thought about in ages (and he hasn’t seen in over a year!).

8- He reminds me to feed and water the dog.

9- When I am putting on his socks and shoes and trying to keep up with his brothers too, he reminds me the socks go on first.

10- He knows what button to push to turn on the 3-wheeler his poppy rides him on and how to put it in reverse (This one actually makes me a little nervous)- and I only know how to go forward.

11- He tells me it’s time to go to the dentist because he now has all of his teeth.

12- He knows he isn’t supposed to get out if the bed once he down for he night so he asks me to get him water, then to turn on his night light, then to get his pillow (which is usually buried in the toy box), then to get him a drink of water. I finally say, “Why don’t you do all of this yourself?” He replies, “You told me not to get up, Mommy.”

13- I asked him when he was going to start wiping himself after he poops and he smiles and says, “But you do such a great job.” He knows it gets me every time!

Happy 4th birthday, Coley! Mama and Daddy are so proud of you and all you have accomplished this year (read about it in your notebook)! We look so forward to watching God continue to grow and bless you. We are so grateful He trusted us to be your parents! We are honored you are our son!

Tuesday
Lemon baked chicken; Fresh green beans; dinner rolls

Wednesday
Grilled steak; sweet potatoes; Caesar salad

Thursday
Chuck E. Cheese for Cole's birthday

Sunday Funny

Multi-tasking at its best!

The boys and I were going through the drive thru at "McSonic" as Cole calls it (Actually, it's just Sonic). Jonah announces he has to pee pee. He has done so well being potty trained, but, he does not give himself much time when he realizes he has to go. Usually, when he tells me he has to pee pee, we have all of about 30 seconds to get to the bathroom, pull his pants down, and get on the toilet. Obviously, we were going to be more than 30 seconds in the drive thru line. I frantically look around outside of the van for an inconspicuous place for him to pee- no good. This Sonic didn't even even have any decent bushes! I had just taken our potty inside that I usually keep in the van for just sort of occasion. I had resolved myself that I was going to have to clean up pee pee out of the van carpet. Then, I spotted it. It was beautiful! In the passenger seat was a Styrofoam cup left over from Friday night dinner. I told Jonah to get himself out of his seat belt and come up front with me (we are still in the drive thru line). I pulled his pants down and told him to point into the cup and pee pee.

So, here we are: I have my right hand holding the cup while my fore finger is "helping Jonah's aim" and my left hand on the steering wheel while my foot lets off the brake so we can pull up and I give the speaker our order. There has to some award for that, right? Jonah successfully pees in the cup and all is well. When he got back to his seat, Cole says to him, "Good job, Jonah. You've just pee peed like a real big boy." I'm not sure what that meant; but it sounded cute.

Thursday 13

So after last week's horrible day (it has been much better, thanks), I feel I must remind all how precious my energetic boys can be and usually are.

13 Sweet Things the Boys are Doing Right Now

1- Cole is really into complementing obscure things. Last week I was wearing a tank top and he said, “Mama, I like your breasts. They look pretty.” Umm, thanks.

2- Jonah likes to remind me how he is listening by saying things like, “I obeying, Mama.”

3- Judah loves to bring stuff to you- and he brings it all!

4- Cole likes to look for bugs and share the caterpillars with his brothers- even though he knows there is a high likelihood they will be squished. He is trying to teach them to be gentle. I hear him saying, "Now don't hurt him. We have to put him on a tree to be with his family."

5- Jonah says, “Thank you” for EVERYTHING. “Thank you for my milk, Mama.” “Thank you for handing me my blanket, Mama.” “Thank you for wiping me, Mama.”

6- Judah likes to cuddle. He’ll sit in the crook of your arm and watch TV. He also DARES either of his brothers to come over and try to get on my lap while he is there. It’s not pretty. He's small, but he's a scrapper.

7- Cole is cleaning up his toys and dishes without being asked- some of the time.

8- Jonah will walk up to me at any given point (even after I’ve just finished fussing at them) and pucker his lips and say, “Gimme a fiss, Mama.”

9- Judah likes to bury his head into CJ’s chest. It’s really cute and CJ can’t help but immediately stop what he’s doing and kiss him.

10- Cole is doing more for his brothers. He will get them a cookie if he is getting himself one or lay out their blankets on the floor when they are having “picnics” in the living room.

11- Jonah, after saying prayers at night, always says, “Mama, I want you to sleep with me.” It’s so cute I can’t hardly stand to say, “Hmmm, no, but I love you.”

12- Judah is doing so much better with our dog, Emma. He still likes to poke her eyeballs and pull her tail, but he is kissing her so much more and “petting” her- which actually is more like smacking her on top of her head over and over. We have made some progress.

13- They are all sleeping in a bit later which is AWESOME!!! The past few mornings they have not gotten up before 7:30- that is a HUGE deal in our house. My early riser usually gets up around 6:30ish- UGH! Thanks, Boys!

Monday Menu Planner

I've seen this idea on several other blogs and I thought posting my menu would be great accountability for me. I enjoy cooking (not baking), but entering into my 3rd trimester, it's getting easier just to fix p-nut butter sandwiches for supper. CJ is so easy to please in the kitchen, he would totally fine with me doing that. Since this is a digital scrap book for my children, I want them to know their mom did not make them grow up on p-nut butter sandwiches- no matter how tempting!

Monday
Chicken Quesadillas; Refried Beans

Tuesday
Cranberry Pot Roast Over Rice; Vegetable Medley

Wednesday

Lo Mein with Ham; Steamed Broccoli

Thursday
Shepard’s Pie; Green Beans

Friday

Pizza- this is an always at our house

Saturday

Left Overs and/ or sandwiches (maybe p-nut butter ;))

Sunday

Homemade Hash and Rice; Garden Salad

Day From %@#$!!

Look at these precious faces!

You would never think every now and again, when I least expect it, fang teeth grow out and horns come out from behind their ears. Yesterday was one those days they showed up. It was probably one of the worst days for behavior in the Jeffcoat House we have had in a long time. At one point, I went into my bathroom and shut the door and just cried. I felt like such a loser for feeling like I was losing my mind and like I was losing control. After I pulled myself together, I came out of my bathroom only to see Cole pinching Judah's cheeks and pulling his head back and forth! At that moment, for a split second, I could understand how some parents lose their tempers with their sweet blessings! I picked up Judah and put him in his room and closed his door. I grabbed Cole's hand and led him to his room and told him to get into his bed and not to get out of it and did the same for Jonah. I went to each of them individually and dressed them all the way to their shoes and socks while they stayed in their beds. They had to remain in their beds until I came to get them to put them in the van. We went through the drive-thru at McDonald's for lunch (it was only 11) as I explained why we could not get out and play as we had planned to do earlier. We went home, ate lunch, and I put them all to bed where they stayed until CJ came home.

I have decided today is going to be a better day- as we are cooped up inside with all of the rain!

13 Differences Between My First Pregnancy and My Last

1- I'm so much more relaxed.

2- Lack of appetite.

3- I listen to my body more.

4- Low weight gain.

5- I'm more achy earlier on.

6- My hair is almost always in a ponytail this go around.

7- I'm eating more vegetables- I actually crave them.

8- My cravings- with my first it was meat and potatoes (and Big Macs).

9- I'm not as weepy/ sensitive.

10- More enlarged mucus glands- my allergies have been awful and I typically don't even have allergies!

11- This has been the sickest I have EVER been while pregnant. It's been a toughie.

12- I'm so much more tired this go around. Some say it's becasue we have 3 toddlers; I think I'm just getting older and it's harder to bounce back.

13- Which leads me to the last one: I'm getting older and it's tougher to recover and bounce back!
